England bagged the most in the latest IPL 2023 auction, around 56.4 crores INR. In fact, the most expensive player in the IPL 2023 is also an English cricketer- Sam Curran. So many English cricket players have been bought, transferred from one to another, retained, etc. Here we will see the names of the English cricketers sold or bought in the auction on 23^rd December.

In the upcoming IPL 2023 Auction, 3 English cricketers – Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, and Harry Brook- appeared as the most expensive players. Apart from this, the other players will contribute their parts to the tournament. England’s all-rounder Sam Curran got sold for a whopping ₹18.5 crore to Punjab Kings. Curran broke the record held by South African all-rounder Chris Morris who was sold to Rajasthan Royals for 16.5 crores INR at the IPL 2021 auction.

Sam Curran ignited the Tata IPL 2023 auction with a base price of 2 crores INR in no time. We witnessed, within 10 seconds, his price had gone up to 9 crores INR with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians having a go at it. However, within minutes, his bidding price reached a whopping 18.5 crores INR as Punjab Kings. Curran’s performance in England’s T20 World Cup campaign helped the team to become the champions. Curran took 13 wickets, which was the second-highest and was considered the player of the tournament.

Besides Curran, the other players picked for a higher fee include England’s popular all-rounder Ben Stokes. He was sold to Chennai Super Kings for 16.25 crores INR, and batsman Harry Brook was sold to SunRisers Hyderabad for 13.25 crores INR. Meanwhile, English player Joe Root whose base price was 1 crore, was unsold this season. Even England’s Tom Banton remained unsold. If we look at the bidding pattern, those who played well in the T20 World Cup last season were sold at a higher price. However, England’s players dominated the bidding this year.
