14-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made history. The star prodigy debuted for an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise at such a young age (14 years, 23 days old) to smash appearance records in the tournament.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi signed a contract with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the IPL 2025 mega auction before making his first batting appearance as an opener for the franchise. He featured against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to etch his name in IPL record books.

RR’s spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule believes Vaibhav’s debut against LSG couldn’t have come at a better time:
“It was important to give Vaibhav the opportunity when the right moment presented itself and I think today was the day. Vaibhav is a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. He almost has a 360-degree game. He is courageous, brave and always wants to dominate. He doesn’t care much for who is bowling to him. His philosophy is see the ball and hit the ball.” the coach said.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi got most of his early training sessions from coach Brajesh Kumar. The former Ranji Trophy player registers his pleasure with Vaibhav’s ascension to the pinnacle of franchise cricket.
“When a player from a small district like Samastipur, who would play here with all these young boys, makes it to the IPL, where he will get a chance to share the field or dressing room with greats of the game like Virat Kohli or Rahul Dravid, it’s a dream, not just for that cricketer but a coach like me too,” the coach said.
Vaibhav’s Father Shatters Age Falsification Gossip
Several unconfirmed reports suggest that Vaibhav could be using a fake age to prolong his sporting career. These gossip blogs allege that the youngster is much older and should be subject to an age verification test.
The cricketer’s father has come out to challenge anyone who seeks this information to a fresh test. He says every test required to prove his son’s age are already done:
“When he was 8 and half years old he first appeared for a BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don’t fear anyone. He can again undergo age test,” his father said.
