CSK will target Rachin Ravindra or Daryl Mitchell to replace Ben Stokes

Rachin Ravindra or Daryl Mitchell could be on the cards for Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) potential IPL 2024 acquisitions, according to several prominent voices like ex-India cricketer Aakash Chopra. The legendary cricketer believes both these names will likely pop up many times as CSK searches for Ben Stokes’ replacement.

In an interview, Chopra had this to say about the CSK’s potential options:

“They will need an all-rounder. It could be Rachin Ravindra in place of Ben Stokes, or they might look towards Daryl Mitchell. This team might not need spinners because they have Ravindra Jadeja, Prashant Solanki, Moeen Ali, and Mitchell Santner. They will be able to manage with them”

Why Does Chopra Recommend Rachin Ravindra or Daryl Mitchell for CSK?

Aakash believes a larger bottom line could spur CSK into making several additions to defend their IPL 2023 crown:

“It’s clear there are two departments where they will have to rebuild a little. One is the fast-bowling department because Tushar Deshpande, Deepak Chahar, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Simarjeet Singh – they will need someone other than that. They need fast bowlers. It could be overseas or Indian. They will go shopping for fast bowlers. They generally go towards experienced players. So don’t be surprised if they pick Shardul Thakur because 31.4 crore rupees is a lot and Shardul Thakur was also earlier part of this team”

What Other Recommendations Did Aakash Chopra Suggest?

Chopra seems to understand every department where CSK is lacking now and feels players like Karun Nair or Manish Pandey will be suitable to replace Ambati Rayudu. In total, Chopra recommends five players as suitable options to fill three or more vacant positions available at CSK ahead of the new season.

These players are Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur, Manish Pandey, and Karun Nair. CSK could look towards these recommendations while gunning to strengthen weak departments in their squad.
