The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to officially pull out from taking part in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on January 24, 2026. Bangladesh’s cricket body did not get approval for their request to play T20 WC 2026 in Sri Lanka and will now host a domestic three-team tournament.

The BCB’s ODOMMO Cup launch is a direct response to their unsuccessful request to play T20 WC 2026 games outside India. Bangladesh’s cricket regulator made official requests to the International Cricket Council (ICC) seeking to play games in Sri Lanka while citing “security concerns”.
The Jay Shah-led ICC denied Bangladesh’s request and forced the body to withdraw their squad from taking part in T20 WC 2026 matches.

The ODOMMO 2026 T20 Cup is not an exhibition series and receives full backing from Bangladesh’s cricket governing body. Official sources within the BCB claim that BDT 2.5 crore (about $210,000) will go into prize money allocations and player match fees and bonuses throughout this spectacle.
