In this article, we are covering eight top tips to bowl with the new ball. when it comes to bowling there are three main disciplines; finger spin, wristband, and steamboat. Although the results of these three actions appear different. But from a visual perspective, these three actions share a lot of similarities when it comes to the actions themselves.
The eight tips we have selected to bowl with the new ball are applicable to all three disciplines as well as to right-handed and left-handed bowlers. These eight tips will help you when you will use them correctly while bowling with the new ball.
1. Wrist Flicks
When it comes to bowling it is important that your wrist works in the correct line to stay behind the ball. To give us the most effort behind the ball and make sure that the ball is moving in the right direction and with the right movement on it.
Focus on making sure that the wrist stays in a straight line behind the ball. Start initially with the underhand flex really making sure that the fingers stay on the ball.
2. Band Rotations
In band rotations tip, we are going to be doing double band arm rotations. Let us tell you how this actually works. There’s going to be a band on the floor in front of you and a band on the floor behind you.
You are going to start in your bowling action and then going to use your front arm to pull the band up and let it pull you forward and the band behind you with your bowline arm to really pull through to get used to complete the action the bands help with the resistance in the action.
3. Bowling Along Net
Now in this one, we are going to do bowling along the side net. but it doesn’t have to be a net it just has to be something physical that can create a barrier for you to work along. You have to start with the net on the right-hand side.
Also, you have to keep going forward and pulling through your action trying to replicate your match intensity in the action. You have to do this to make sure that your arm doesn’t go too wide or too round.
4. Standing and Bowling
In this one, you have to stand in your action and bowling. Your action is really important because you can focus on the whole body without having to worry about the momentum of your run-up. Changing anything and getting our body used to get into that position and nice and strong to make sure that our release points are consistent and our action is consistent at the same time.
5. Working Through Channels
In this one, you have to focus on the approach, the follow-through, and channels. For this, you have to set up cones to make sure that your approach is in a straight line, your follow-through follows through towards your target with a slight take-off at the end, and a channel of cones where you like to see the ball going through.
Make sure that you are approaching through the cones following through the cone, and trying to get the ball going through the cones.
6. Bound and Bowl
Now, we are going to be looking at the bound and bowl. This is very similar to standard bowling and except we are now putting the bound into the gather into the action as well. But again, we do not have the momentum from the runner. So just focus on this part of the action to make sure that it’s good and consistent so that you can get the most out of each of your bowling actions.
7. Balance Drills
You have to focus on balancing. I know it sounds pretty simple but if we can get our stabilizing muscles strong and make sure our balance is good then everything in the crease is going to work as we want to.
8. Balance Braced Drills
This last one difficult drill in our opinion and this is why it’s made the last place on our list. In this, you have to do bowling from a higher platform along with an uneven surface to focus on balance. To make sure that you are coming off the platform the reason you have to boil for a higher platform is to assist you with bracing the front leg through the crease to make sure that you can really get over it and maximize your higher potential in the crease.
Conclusion
We hope all these eight top tips to bowl with the new ball will help you a lot and will inspire you to become a better and amazing bowler.
